The first month at the Center of Opportunity
It was a bittersweet moment when we officially moved from the Men’s Center, where we’ve been since 1956, to the Center of Opportunity. So many men have had their lives changed at the old shelter. It was emotional for all of us to see the current class pack up and lock the doors for the last time.
But it’s a new season here at Gospel Rescue Mission, and God has graciously provided us a much bigger facility. The hurting and homeless we serve now have access to 350 shelter beds, and more than 25 partner organizations stand ready to help us restore and transform lives!
We’re so pleased to report that our first month was a stunning success! Together we provided:
• 7,500 Bed Nights of Shelter – for those with no safe place to lay their heads
• 940 of those Bed Nights were provided to Homeless Children
• 17,000 Meals – served to feed the hungry and welcome them to a new life
• 2,000+ Volunteer Hours – helped serve our guests with the respect and dignity they deserve
It’s truly incredible to see God on the move! But we’re still in desperate need of volunteers. A larger facility means we’re serving more men, women and children than ever before – which means we need more volunteers than ever before!
