Why Donate or Volunteer at Gospel Rescue Mission? by Stephanie Redmond, Digital Marketing Coordinator
Every now and then, people wonder if their donation matters, if their time spent volunteering really made a difference, if the people coming into the shelter at Gospel Rescue Mission actually hear the Gospel and if they do, didn't they already know Jesus? Isn't that why they chose Gospel Rescue Mission?
If you've wondered something along these lines before, perhaps a first-hand testimony about what it's really like here will help:
"I recently found myself homeless for the first time in my life. In the course of looking for a meal and shelter, I found Gospel Rescue Mission. I'd seen commercials on local television and never gave a thought to needing the shelter. In spite of the fact that my religious views are agnostic, I was welcomed to GRM where I was fed, clothed and sheltered for about a week and a half. I had no problem listening to the evening chapel service and even drew inspiration from a few of them. As a U.S. Air Force veteran, I found myself near the front of the line for meals and bedding, a wonderful feeling for one who served this country proudly. Knowing that GRM has been here in Tucson for 60 years tells me that the Mission has provided consistent shelter for both men and women and children with shelter, food and spiritual guidance. It is my sincerest hope that the Mission continues receiving support from the greater Tucson community. One last thing, I would like to thank Robert, who I believe runs the Mission, for being there when he really doesn't need to be there. He is priceless and I hope he continues his work and inspiration for a long time. Thank you so much for taking me in. I will be leaving my adopted home town for now, but I will always remember Gospel Rescue Mission for being there when I had no other options available to me. Thank you so much!!" - Gary Paul, August 2015
