What is the minimum time commitment necessary to volunteer at Gospel Rescue Mission?
The level of commitment required depends on what the task is that you are volunteering for. Some tasks only take a few hours, like volunteering to join us in helping clean up a neighborhood in South Tucson or serving at an Annual Holiday Street Banquet. Others may require a time commitment on certain days of the week for a certain number of hours at a time. During the volunteer application process we will discuss time commitments more thoroughly.
How do I apply to become a volunteer?
All prospective Volunteer Partners must first take a tour, then take time to consider what they'd like to do and pray about. Once they've come to a decision, contact our Volunteer Department to obtain an application. Please note: Annual Hoilday Street Banquet volunteers do not need to take a tour and may sign-up either online through Eventbrite or by phone with the Volunteer Department: 520-740-1501 x7032.
What are the requirements to volunteer?
Do I need any specific skills or qualifications to volunteer?
It's not necessary, but if you do have specialized skills that can be used for the type of volunteering you wish to do, that's great.
Can I volunteer with a friend or group?
Will I be working with other volunteers or shelter guests?
Most of our volunteer opportunities are working together with other volunteers, staff, and sometimes shelter guests depending on the area. However, there are areas within our Volunteer Program that allow for some types of service to be done alone or with a group at off-GRM-property locations such as: at home, online, at a church, etc.
Can I volunteer from home or online?
What does Gospel Rescue Mission need the most help with?
Many of our volunteer opportunities can be filled on a regular basis and there are others that come up at any given time. Please contact us for more information on our most current volunteer needs. We also discuss these during our weekly tours. (Tours are by appointment only. Sign up at tourgrm.eventbrite.com)
Will I be trained?
Yes, training is a key component to any Volunteer Partner placement.
