Walk to End Alzheimer’s: Serving with Compassion & Hope
We had such a beautiful and meaningful morning at Reid Park for the Walk to End Alzheimer’s. As the sun came up and thousands of walkers gathered with purpose and remembrance, Gospel Rescue Mission was honored to be present—serving a warm breakfast, providing free clothing, and sharing hope, encouragement, and compassion with our community.
From early morning conversations to simple moments of kindness, every interaction reminded us of the power of showing up. We listened to stories, offered practical support, and stood alongside families and individuals impacted by Alzheimer’s, letting them know they are seen, valued, and not alone.
Throughout the morning, more than 2,000 walkers stopped by the Gospel Rescue Mission booth, allowing us to extend care in tangible ways:
- 77 clothing bags given out
- 471 food items served
- 113 people personally helped
- 26 hygiene wipes
- 26 sunscreens
- 26 blessing bags distributed
We are deeply grateful to be part of an event that raises awareness, honors loved ones, and supports families walking a difficult journey. Days like this reflect the heart of our mission—meeting people where they are and serving with love, grace, dignity, and respect. It was truly a day marked by compassion, community, and hope.
