Freedom from addiction

This month, we’re sharing something we never have before—handwritten thank-you notes from guests whose lives your love has helped restore. Once unseen and unheard, they are now experiencing hope, shelter, and transformation because you chose to love someone you’ve never met.

February is the month of love, and at GRM, love is lived out daily—in a warm bed, a hot meal served with dignity, and compassion in moments of crisis. These notes are more than thank-yous; they are proof that your compassion is changing lives from the inside out.

Moments like these are possible because of your Love

A Message from Our CEO

THIS MONTH’S NEWSLETTER IS A REMINDER OF WHY THIS WORK MATTERS AND WHY WE NEVER GROW TIRED OF THIS WORK
In this month’s newsletter, we share something very close to our hearts—the notes we receive from our guests and what they reveal about the transformation happening every day at Gospel Rescue Mission. These stories remind us that this is not temporary relief, but life change from the inside out. When the work feels heavy, their words renew our faith and strengthen our gratitude for each of you. We hope you’ll take a moment to read the full letter and be encouraged by the powerful impact your generosity is making in the lives of men and women choosing a new beginning.

WHEN Love RESPONDS TO THE COLD
Operation Rescue from the Cold

When nighttime temperatures drop below 40, the city opens up shelters to those in need. On December 1, long before that crisis hit, we began activating Operation Rescue from the Cold—an expanded emergency service that is available regardless of the temperature, intentionally designed to reach people who might not otherwise seek help.

By meeting immediate needs and building trust first, we show—rather than simply tell—people in need that we are here to provide hope, shelter, and transformation.

• Extended shelter hours and increased bed availability
• Warm meals and hot beverages
• Emergency warming spaces
• Clothing, blankets, and outreach support

All of this is vital—but what matters more is connection. Our conversion team is trained to identify deeper needs and invite guests into long-term care. In that moment, a cold night becomes the first step toward transformation.

Christmas AT GRM
When a Simple Gift Becomes a Powerful Reminder of Hope

This year, like every year, we gather together a group of staff and volunteers to decorate and wrap gifts for our guests. It’s a bittersweet time for everyone here. On one hand, our guests are deeply grateful for a safe place to sleep and begin healing. On the other, many are navigating the weight of past decisions, broken relationships, and a history they can’t erase.

For some, this is the first time in years they’ve felt welcomed, remembered, and truly loved during the holidays.

WHAT YOUR Love PROVIDES

Because of you, our guests receive:

• Safe shelter during crisis
• Three nutritious meals each day
• Chapel services and spiritual care
• One-on-one case support and guidance
• Job readiness and life-skills training
• Long-term recovery and aftercare support
• Access to medical, dental, and mental health care
• Access to services, provided by a network of 50+ agencies

Your love is more than compassion—it is action. Because Gospel Rescue Mission is entirely donor funded, every meal served, every bed provided, and every life restored begins with someone like you. If you believe in hope, shelter, and true transformation, would you consider making a gift today? Together, we can continue to provide not just services—but a path to lasting change for those who need it most.

Together, we can provide Hope. Shelter. Transformation.
