This month, we’re sharing something we never have before—handwritten thank-you notes from guests whose lives your love has helped restore. Once unseen and unheard, they are now experiencing hope, shelter, and transformation because you chose to love someone you’ve never met.
February is the month of love, and at GRM, love is lived out daily—in a warm bed, a hot meal served with dignity, and compassion in moments of crisis. These notes are more than thank-yous; they are proof that your compassion is changing lives from the inside out.
Moments like these are possible because of your Love

Operation Rescue from the Cold
When nighttime temperatures drop below 40, the city opens up shelters to those in need. On December 1, long before that crisis hit, we began activating Operation Rescue from the Cold—an expanded emergency service that is available regardless of the temperature, intentionally designed to reach people who might not otherwise seek help.
By meeting immediate needs and building trust first, we show—rather than simply tell—people in need that we are here to provide hope, shelter, and transformation.
• Extended shelter hours and increased bed availability
• Warm meals and hot beverages
• Emergency warming spaces
• Clothing, blankets, and outreach support
All of this is vital—but what matters more is connection. Our conversion team is trained to identify deeper needs and invite guests into long-term care. In that moment, a cold night becomes the first step toward transformation.

When a Simple Gift Becomes a Powerful Reminder of Hope
This year, like every year, we gather together a group of staff and volunteers to decorate and wrap gifts for our guests. It’s a bittersweet time for everyone here. On one hand, our guests are deeply grateful for a safe place to sleep and begin healing. On the other, many are navigating the weight of past decisions, broken relationships, and a history they can’t erase.
For some, this is the first time in years they’ve felt welcomed, remembered, and truly loved during the holidays.
