Love is Patient

In Gospel of Luke 15:11–32, we see the story of the loving Father.

His son demanded his inheritance and then left to live riotously.

Verse 20 shows us the posture of the Father:

“But when he was still a great way off, his father saw him and had compassion and ran and fell on his neck and kissed him.”

The Father was waiting and watching for his son to return, and when he did, the father was overjoyed.

God the Father is waiting patiently for us to return to Him. He sent Jesus Christ to die for us so that we could come back into relationship with Him. And when we do, He throws a party!

Love is patient.

You hear people say, “Don’t pray for patience.”

Patience is waiting with expectancy. It is knowing that God is our Father and that what He has for us is good.

It is taking Him at His Word and not letting go.

Patience is a fruit of the Spirit. It is part of the character of God.

So, this week, whatever you have been trusting God for—and your patience has been growing a little thin—submit it back to Him.

Trust Him. Stand on His Word. Wait with expectancy.
