Bear Down and Make a Difference

When the University of Arizona Football Team first stepped onto our campus, they came with one purpose which was to serve.

For the month of July, every Wednesday, these student athletes stepped away from their busy schedules to spend time at Gospel Rescue Mission. Week after week, they rolled up their sleeves in the kitchen, served meals in our dining room, helped wherever they were needed, and most importantly, connected with our guests.

As the weeks passed, simple acts of service turned into meaningful relationships. One player shared, “For me, this means helping out where I can with the time I have and giving back as much as possible.” Another reflected, “Just looking back at my life, I’ve been so blessed in so many different ways and how many people have poured into me, so it’s important that I pour back into the community.”

Those words reflect exactly what we witnessed each week. Their consistency wasn’t just about volunteering it was about showing our guests they are seen, valued, and cared for. Every meal served, every conversation shared, and every helping hand made a lasting impact.

As our Wednesdays together come to a close, we’re not only thankful for everything they accomplished, but for the relationships they built along the way.

To the University of Arizona Football Team, thank you for faithfully showing up every Wednesday and investing in our Tucson community. Your kindness and willingness to serve have left a lasting impact on our guests, staff, and volunteers. From all of us at Gospel Rescue Mission thank you for making a difference. ❤️🐻⬇️
