From Feeling Unloved to Knowing His Worth

Growing up, Christian felt like an outsider. He didn’t feel truly loved and struggled to connect with people. As a teenager, he tried to fill the emptiness inside by seeking attention and love in all the wrong ways. He started partying, using drugs, and making choices that hurt himself and others.
After years of substance abuse, homelessness, and destructive behavior, he found himself with nowhere else to go. Upon arriving at a detox facility, what struck him most was looking around, seeing people “writhing in pain” and thinking, “This is where I’m headed if I keep messing up my life.”
When he arrived at Gospel Rescue Mission, everything changed. Here, he discovered something he’d been missing his entire life – self-love and faith. Through the pastoral care leader, Christian found God. He realized that Jesus loved him exactly as he was, broken and imperfect.
The mission became his sanctuary. He learned to stop manipulating people and start being genuine. He discovered that true love comes from understanding your own worth. With God’s help, he stopped using drugs, got a steady job, and found an apartment.
Today, Christian’s story is one of hope. He knows now that his past doesn’t define him. God’s love rescued him, gave him strength, and showed him he was worthy of love all along.
“Don’t give up on yourself. God is always working, even in the hardest moments.”
