It's on Gods Heart

We all experience moments of sadness, distress, and anxiety. When those times begin to consume us and become unbearable, it becomes difficult to function.

You are not alone. When we are going through difficult situations and life seems unbearable, it can feel as though we are the only ones. We tend to withdraw and isolate ourselves, thinking no one understands. Yet that is the very time when we need community the most.

Mark 14:32–34

Then they came to a place which was named Gethsemane; and He said to His disciples, “Sit here while I pray.” And He took Peter, James, and John with Him, and He began to be troubled and deeply distressed. Then He said to them, “My soul is exceedingly sorrowful, even to death. Stay here and watch.”

Verse 33 (The Message):

“He plunged into a sinkhole of dreadful agony.”

In His darkest hour, even Jesus needed His friends.

Jesus also demonstrated that the place to take our anxiety is to the Father.

Mark 14:35

He went a little farther, fell on the ground, and prayed that, if it were possible, the hour might pass from Him.

If it’s BIG enough to worry about, it’s BIG enough to pray about.

If it’s on your mind, it’s on God’s heart.

You are NOT your feelings—talk to your feelings.

Mark 14:36

And He said, “Abba, Father, all things are possible for You. Take this cup away from Me; nevertheless, not what I will, but what You will.”

What did Jesus do with His anxiety?

  • He talked to His friends.
  • He talked to His Father.
  • He talked to His feelings.

If you find yourself overwhelmed and consumed with anxiety, don’t isolate—gravitate toward community.

Don’t stop talking to God. Talk to Him even more.
