Jesus, the Bread of Life: Our All-Sufficient Everything
He is all that we need, and we can rely on Him.
One of the ways Jesus expressed this is found in John 6:35:
“I am the bread of life. He who comes to Me shall never hunger, and he who believes in Me shall never thirst.”
Jesus is speaking here about one of the essentials of life.
We all need bread—food—to live. It is our sustenance.
Jesus is saying, “I AM that bread. I AM that sustenance.”
Without Me, you don’t have life—just as without food, you will eventually die.
Without Me, you don’t truly live. I AM everything you need.
Later in the same chapter, Jesus says in John 6:51:
“I am the living bread which came down from heaven.”
Jesus is declaring that He will satisfy your everything.
Our response is to come to Him and to believe in Him—to trust Him as our everything.
When Jesus said this, the people listening—much like us today—tended to ask,
“What can Jesus do for me?”
As long as He is changing my circumstances, I’m satisfied.
But when Jesus asks us to make Him our everything, that is harder to grasp.
It means that even when things are not going my way,
I still trust that He is sufficient—even for this.
Today, let this be our declaration:
Jesus, You are my everything.
I trust You.
You are my bread, and You are my life.
