Volunteer Spotlight- Earl
We’re honored to celebrate our volunteer, Earl, whose life is a powerful testimony of God’s grace and more than two decades of faithful service at Gospel Rescue Mission.
Earl’s story began in humble circumstances. Growing up poor, he can now see that God was already at work in his life. He always sensed there was something different about the path God had prepared for him. Then, in 2002, Earl fully surrendered his life to Christ and felt a clear calling to serve.
Soon afterward, Earl found his way to Gospel Rescue Mission. Before ever stepping behind the pulpit, he spent months simply building relationships with guests and staff. When the opportunity finally came to preach, he says he “exploded” with the Word of God. From that moment on, GRM became home.
For more than 23 years, Earl has faithfully volunteered in countless ways. He has preached in chapel, served in pastoral care, taught classes like 12 Steps to Jesus, welcomed guests with kindness, and today helps care for our community spaces so everyone who walks through our doors feels safe, respected, and valued.
Earl has intentionally remained a volunteer. He believes he works for the Lord, not for people, and he wants to finish the same way he started—freely serving God with humility and love.
Earl’s compassion is rooted in experience. Having walked through homelessness, addiction, and deep personal struggles himself, he understands many of the challenges our guests face.
When asked what has kept him serving for more than two decades, Earl’s answer couldn’t be simpler:
“I love this place. I love the people. This is my home.”
Today, we celebrate and thank Earl for over 20 years of faithful, humble, Christ-centered service to Gospel Rescue Mission and our community. Your unwavering commitment has impacted countless lives, and we are deeply grateful that you never stopped answering God’s call.
