Volunteer Spotlight- Gilbert
We’re celebrating Gilbert, a faithful volunteer whose story is a powerful picture of God’s restoration and hope.
Gilbert once experienced homelessness, sleeping in a park under the bleachers until a friend brought him to Gospel Rescue Mission. Here he found three meals a day, a clean bed, and a fresh start. Just days after arriving, he began volunteering in the kitchen, washing dishes and scrubbing pots and pans.
God opened the door for housing, and Gospel Rescue Mission even helped furnish his apartment. Gilbert often says it’s not just his apartment, but “our apartment” his and the Lord’s because God provided it all.
Now a full-time volunteer, Gilbert serves with several ministries, yet continues to choose GRM over paid job offers because he believes this is where God wants him. He volunteers here week after week out of gratitude to God, love for this community, and a heart to serve.
Gilbert will tell you, “No glory belongs to me only to God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.”
