Hope. Shelter. Transformation.
Since 1953, Gospel Rescue Mission (GRM) has been a beacon of hope in Tucson, serving men, women, and children experiencing homelessness. We provide emergency shelter, hot meals, and holistic support while walking alongside each person toward lasting transformation—mind, body, and spirit.
Our Mission
We welcome the hungry and hurting with open arms—meeting immediate needs while building authentic, life-giving relationships rooted in dignity and compassion. Through practical care and the hope of the Gospel, we walk alongside men, women, and families as true transformation begins.
Each night, we serve up to 350 guests with nourishing meals, safe shelter, and compassionate support. But our care goes far beyond meeting urgent needs. We guide individuals on a pathway toward healing—addressing addiction, restoring purpose, developing job readiness, and securing stable housing. Step by step, lives are rebuilt, hope is renewed, and lasting change takes root.
Our Vision
At the heart of Gospel Rescue Mission’s work is the Center of Opportunity—a place where hope takes root and lives begin to change. More than a shelter, the Center of Opportunity is a hub of transformation, bringing together housing, recovery, workforce development, healthcare access, and spiritual support under one roof. It is where individuals are met with dignity, consistency, and a clear pathway forward.
This work is strengthened by more than 50 community-based collaborative partnerships with local nonprofits, churches, healthcare providers, educational institutions, employers, and social-service agencies. Together, we surround each person with the resources, relationships, and support they need to move from crisis to stability—addressing not just immediate needs, but the root causes of homelessness.
We believe homelessness isn’t the end of anyone’s story. Through a faith-based, holistic approach, we offer practical support and enduring hope—empowering individuals to heal, grow, and rebuild their lives. With compassionate care, meaningful work opportunities, and a strong community walking alongside them, people are restored from Homeless to Wholeness and equipped to thrive in the community they once felt disconnected from.

Leadership and Board
Strong, faith-filled leadership anchors the work of Gospel Rescue Mission. Our Board of Directors and senior leadership team provide thoughtful governance, strategic direction, and prayerful oversight—ensuring the Mission remains accountable, sustainable, and focused on its calling. Their leadership empowers staff and volunteers to serve with compassion and excellence, helping people move from homelessness to wholeness.
Lisa, the granddaughter of Ray Chastain, founder of Gospel Rescue Mission (GRM), was born and raised in Tucson. She grew up in a successful family business and was certain to follow in her dad’s footsteps. But in her early 20s, God changed her life, replacing her desire for monetary success with a passion for helping the poor and those in need.
