Brad Smith

President

Board Member Since 2020

“Real change happens when we address immediate needs while also building pathways that prevent homelessness before it begins.”

Professional Background
Raised in Tucson, Brad Smith is the President and second-generation owner of Airtronics, a family-owned aerospace manufacturing company founded by his father, Jim Smith, in 1975. Brad has led the company for more than 30 years, maintaining Airtronics’ reputation as an industry leader through a hands-on leadership approach and a commitment to exceptional service.

Under Brad’s leadership, Airtronics has expanded beyond its pioneering work in Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) of U.S. military components to include reverse engineering, research, manufacturing, and machine shop operations. In 2008, Brad guided the company into a larger facility, enabling continued growth and expanded capabilities. Today, Airtronics serves multiple branches of the U.S. Department of Defense as well as major commercial clients including Raytheon, Lockheed Martin, Boeing, L3 Communications, Umbra Group, and Sikorsky.

Mission Connection
Brad has spent more than a decade serving on local nonprofit boards, including the Community Food Bank, Good Friday Breakfast and helped organize HopeFest for many years. Through this work, he met GRM CEO Lisa Chastain and was inspired by her vision to extend HopeFest’s life-changing services beyond a single event into year-round programs that transform lives.

He joined the Gospel Rescue Mission Board in 2020 to lend his leadership, expertise, and heart to a mission that not only responds to homelessness, but also works to prevent it. Brad believes that addressing poverty requires both intervention and long-term prevention—and he is proud to help GRM pursue that calling.

Personal Background
Brad is a devoted husband to his wife, Andrea of 30 years, and a proud father of two. He values family life deeply and remains committed to serving the Tucson community where he was raised and continues to live.

Fun Fact
Brad still takes a hands-on approach at Airtronics—believing the best leadership starts with listening to customers, teams, and partners.
