Grace Found Her

Stephanie
Workforce
As she became an adult, Stephanie entered a long-term relationship, had children, and tried to build a stable life. But brokenness eventually crept in. During a separation, she began struggling with drug addiction, leading to probation, instability, and nights without a place to call home.
She stayed at different homeless shelters but never felt she had the support she needed to truly heal. Around Thanksgiving, CBI brought her to Gospel Rescue Mission. Touched by the love, grace, dignity, and respect she experienced, Stephanie asked for help, not realizing she was stepping into a new chapter of her life.
Walking through those doors, she says, “enlightened me.” Stephanie entered the Workforce Development Program, beginning in the kitchen before moving into culinary arts and eventually earning an internship in the café.
Today, she is discovering who she is without drugs—capable, patient, and deserving of a brighter future. Clean since April, she says this season feels different from every previous attempt to overcome addiction.
Stephanie no longer sees pain. She sees God’s grace woven through every chapter, especially through the people and programs at Gospel Rescue Mission. Her encouragement to anyone facing similar struggles is simple but powerful: “Stick with it. It helps. God blesses everybody in certain ways, and He has a blessing for everybody. The problem is, you have to stick it out.”
Stephanie’s story is a testimony of hope, perseverance, and faith. It is a reminder that even in life’s darkest seasons, God can use places like Gospel Rescue Mission—and the people who serve there—to help restore a life and remind someone that they were created with purpose and always meant to flourish.
