The Power of "I AM"

In the Bible, we find many “I AM” statements. Jesus is plainly saying, “This is who I AM.”
When Jesus made these statements—when He said, “I AM”—His audience immediately understood the weight of those words. “I AM” was, and still is, a very big deal to the Jewish people.
Jesus was intentional in this. He was drawing on their history to help them recognize who He was claiming to be.
In Exodus, Moses—a deliverer—was raised up as a leader of God’s people, Israel. When God told Moses to go and lead the people of Israel and to tell Pharaoh, “Let My people go,” Moses asked, “Who shall I say sent me?”
God answered, “I AM. Tell them I AM WHO I AM has sent you” (Exodus 3:14).
From a bush that was burning with fire yet not consumed came the voice of God declaring, “I AM WHO I AM.” God is the all-sufficient One—El Shaddai.
He is enough. Nothing is lacking. He needs nothing to complete Him.
He is I AM.
Jesus echoes this truth in John 8:58:
“Jesus said to them, ‘Most assuredly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I AM.’”
When Jesus said “I AM,” the Jewish leaders heard exactly what He was saying:
I AM God. I AM the all-sufficient One.
Jesus is enough for me.
Jesus is enough for any challenge I face in life.
Jesus is enough for every difficulty I encounter.
